I’ve done lots of same sex weddings, LGBTQ and gay ceremonies. None have been as audacious as the one I did for Shamus and Tim.
In most ceremonies I’m flanked by flower bouquets, bow ties, and bridesmaids. You know – the usual wedding paraphernalia.
This one had prostate ticklers, Pitbull harnesses and a fella in a gimp mask.
I was decked out in an outfit taking its cues from the cop from the Village People.
I had an absolute ball.
In many ways Shamus and Tim’s wedding typifies why I became a celebrant in the first place. I love the personality that people bring to their wedding.
And I love being adaptable to that. I’m a straight celebrant. A gay celebrant. A same sex celebrant. A celebrant for those tiptoeing between the cracks.
It especially typifies why I started Pimp My Celebrant – a service which lets couples choose exactly what they want me to wear.
Shamus and Tim took FULL advantage of this feature. It’s even inspired a brand-new outfit – Mr Yum.
I got a magnificent insight into the type of people Shamus and Tim are; two amazing guys with massive hearts looking to have a wedding done their way. In their style.
I got a great insight into their welcoming, friendly culture, too.
And if I get the opportunity to do another wedding like this again, I’ll leap at the chance.
With love and LOLs,
